Our pets are family
Whether you’re a dog person or a cat person; all animal lovers can agree that our furry friends are more than just pets. They are part of the family, our babies and our life companions. Our pets provide us with so much joy and unconditional love; in fact, studies have shown that playing with your pet increases serotonin and dopamine levels in the brain.
We owe our animals the very best care in gratitude for all the happiness they provide us. We want our pet’s to live long and healthy lives and to feel safe and secure in our company.
CBD for pets
We try to feed our pet’s a healthy diet to provide the right nutrients for them just as we would ourselves. But just as we benefit from taking supplements to compliment our diets, our pet’s health and well-being would also be vastly improved from adding a few daily supplements.
Studies have shown that CBD for humans can assist with stress, anxiety, chronic pain, diabetes, cancer, arthritis, inflammation, insomnia and auto-immune disease. But recent studies have been turning towards the healing power of CBD for pets. CBD has been found to treat physical ailments in pets as well as emotional issues such as separation anxiety.
CBD for inflammation
We know immediately when our pet is in pain. They may become less active and seem not quite their usual self. Sometimes dog’s get so overexcited and run and
jump with joy. Over exertion can lead to injury or inflammation in the joints and cause your pet to be in pain. CBD helps to reduce inflammation in the body and manage pain. All mammals rely on the endocannabinoid system to regulate immune response.
The reason CBD helps to modulate pain is that many dog’s bodies are deficient in cannabinoids. Supplementing with CBD increases cannabinoids and restores balance to the endocannabinoid system.
Soothe arthritis
Your pet may be suffering from pain and inflammation caused by arthritis which is very common in dogs. In fact, studies have shown that 1 in 4 adult dogs will suffer from arthritis. This is because certain dogs are predisposed to a variety of joint instability issues that can lead to arthritis over time.
CBD helps to reduce the swelling in the joints and soothe pain and inflammation. Research has shown that CBD can provide substantial pain relief in dogs with arthritis when given twice daily at appropriate doses.
Control seizures
Dogs are also highly susceptible to seizures and tremors. Seizures are one of the most frequently reported neurological conditions in dogs. A seizure may also be called a convulsion or fit and is a temporarily involuntary disturbance of normal brain function that is usually accompanied by uncontrollable muscle activity. CBD is a natural anticonvulsant and is known for its ability to help control seizures, tremors, tics and spasms. Studies have shown CBD oil to be incredibly effective at managing seizures. It works on the CB1 receptors in your dog’s body to improve seizure control and might even calm the overactive neurons. CBD is a natural, holistic way of treating your pet.
Understanding separation anxiety
Aside from treating physical ailments, CBD can also be used to treat separation anxiety in pets. It is not uncommon for dogs to become extremely anxious when you leave the house without them. They may whine or bark till you return which could upset your neighbours. Dogs experience anxiety the same way humans do and become overly attached to their owners.
Unfortunately, you cannot explain to your pet that you will return so in their mind, they may believe you are gone forever. Dogs, like humans, have an endocannabinoid system. Dogs have receptors in their nervous systems that naturally release endocannabinoid chemicals to stabilize moods. CBD oil helps by interacting with this system to increase levels of serotonin in the brain and calm the individual. This means your pet will be more able to cope with the separation from their owner.
Our life companions
Studies have shown that owning a dog can increase your lifespan. Not only that, but they help to reduce depression and promote better sleep. Our pets contribute to a long and healthy life so of course we want the same for them. We want to be able to enjoy our time together for many year to come!
