An empowerment program for the community

Collaboration

Nature’s Relief has been working closely with a beautiful non-profit company called iNala for the past few months, with the intention to empower the community. It’s our biggest honour to tell you a little more about them (and allow you to get involved if you’d like!)

Introducing, iNala

Nature's Relief Charity

iNala assists the poor in underprivileged communities in Kwadukuza, KZN. Their mission is to create sustainable small businesses with the goal to empower people to become providers and alleviate poverty. This is done through the empowerment program, Freedom Community. In addition, they feed in excess of 150 orphans and elderly in the Groutville community. Providing them with meals 3 times per week, often being the only food they receive each week. They depend entirely on donations and sponsorships from the local Dolphin Coast communities to support their initiatives.

Coming together for change

As a brand, Nature’s first got involved on the 22nd of August where we were invited to be part of a Food Fusion Experience with the intention to make contributions to the empowerment program for the iNala community. The event was hosted by Carla Gailey, Matt Jones, and Duke Makina and Nature’s Relief played a role by offering

complimentary infusions into the drinks and food. Chef Rev from Alchemy and Chef Shaun from Pangeli cooked up a storm and it was all hosted at Bellezar.

All proceeds from this event went straight to iNala, and collectively we managed to raise R10,000 for them! If you want to see more about this event, click here

Incorporating a Festive Flair

After the success of this first event, a second event was in the works! A Fun Festive Day on the morning of the 11th December 2021 for the kids empowered and assisted by iNala. The core purpose of this experience was to expose the children to fun, wholesome activities, have them engage with the selfless volunteers from the community. This allows them to walk away feeling energized, inspired and enlightened and most of all loved and cared for. It ended up including 111 kids between the ages of 6-18 years old and it was a jam-packed day full of fun!

The main sponsor was Crown National Food Group who provided a wholesome lunch, and some Christmas goodies. Throughout the day, there were kids-friendly partner workouts, rugby drills, skill coaching, Netball drills, and a soccer tournament.

These were all executed through teamwork by brands like Nature’s Relief, Mr Price Sport, Varsity College, and Reset Collective. Coming together made it even more fun and festive!

As a brand, Nature’s Relief donated 4kg of Moringa to assist with nutrients, protein, and vitamins for the community and we felt so grateful to be involved and give back in some small way. This will be something that we do on an ongoing basis to ensure sustainable health within the community.

Moving forward

Looking forward, we are hoping to host more of these events on a more consistent basis in 2022. We believe that together, we are so powerful and have the capabilities to start a movement of change and empower, educate and enlighten the lives of these kids, in a small, but powerful way.
